The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) took its first images of Mars, displaying infrared light from the red planet with high sensitivity.

The first images and spectra of the James Webb Space Telescope of Mars were released on Monday (September 19) at the Europlanet Science Conference. (Opens in a new tab) (EPSC) 2022. Images and measurements were made on September 5, 2022 from the JWST site 1 million miles (1.6 million km) from Mars.
